I really think that vilolence in online video games does have affects later on in peoples life. Allthough not everybody is going to become this murderer becacause of video games, there still is that chance and why would we take that chance. Video games are fun and I enjoy playing them but when it comes to making up your own character in these video games it is scary to think that people may take actions in real life like they are the character. To me there needs to be more action taken to stop viscous video game violence.

I feel that human dignity is about having confidence in yourself as a person and the people around you to be good citizens. You should be able to walk down the street and know that if you were to get hit by a car in the middle of a street someone would be coming to your side to comfort you. Human dignity is about being a good all around person.

The Democrats did extremely well throughout the nation buy gaining several seats in the house. In the state of Minnesota Tim Pawlenty defeated Mike Hatch for the Governorship. In the senate Amy Klobuchar defeated Mark Kennedy. For Congress Jim Oberstar defeated Rod Grams. I feel that nothing is going to be accomplished in the next few years with the democrates holding the house and the senate split down the middle. I belive President Bush is going to be a lame duck president for the next two years.

I was very suprised by how many people use social networking in there everyday life. It seems like about everybody in class had face book or something along the lines of that. I had no idea what is was before I came here to Scholastica. There are many things that I see could be benifical through the use of Facebood. First being able to keep contact with friends from back home. Secondly, it may help some people social life while entering college or university. I dont have facebook but I am looking into getting it I could use some better contact with friends from back home.

Overall the question and awnser session with Daniel Quinn was very effective way of going more indepth with the book Ismael. By attending Daniel Quinns questions and awnser session I was able to clear up many question I had from reading the book. In addition it was very interesting to here about Daniel Quinn and where he came up with the ideas for the book. There was alot to take from this session and I would really go to one again if it were ever to be at the campus again. I really enjoyed it.

Where did you come up with the concept of the " Leavers and Takers" and how did you want this to apply to your book? Are you more of a Leaver or a Taker in your life?
Where did you come up with the concept of the " Leavers and Takers" and how did you want this to apply to your book? Do you live your life like a Leaver or a Taker?
I recently went to a bar in downtown Duluth where I went to a show called the Dueling Pianos. This show consisted of two guys that were amazing piano players that could play any song you requested but they added there own little twist to it. They were amazing and got everybody in the audience involved with what they were doing. They would make a song about somebody in the audiance and make fun of them all in fun but it was halarious. Comedy and Music how can you go wrong. If you are of the age of 21 I highly suggest going and seeing one of there shows. There are coming back so check out there website here if you are interested. http://www.wildpianos.com/performances.html

It should be noted, however, that animals will also kill in self defense, or even when they merely feel threatened for example baboons may attack a leopard that hasn't attacked them. The point to see is that , although baboons will go looking for food, they will never go looking for leopards." page 121
"Yes. In the wild the lion kills a gazelle and eats it. I doesn't kill a second gazelle to save it for tomorrow. The deer eats the gross that's there. It doesn’t cut grass down and save it for the winter. But these are things the takers do." Page 128
I really enjoyed these two quotes. These quotes were easy to understand, and I felt that it is related to how the food chain works. It was a very effective way for Ishmael to explain to the gorilla how the food chain works, and teaches him take what you need to get by rather then take too much and let it go to waste. This is something that we could use in our everyday life. If you go out for dinner order what you can eat, not order to much and have the food go to waste.
" You've killed off your competitors for the game, but your game has competitors as well-competitors for the grasses. These are your competitors once removed. Kill them off and there’ll be more grass for your game." Page. 132
Does any body understand who Ishmael is talking about when he says the competitors?
Here is an Interesting fact!!!!
"Given an expanding food supply, any population will expand. This is true of any species, including the human. The Takers have been proving this here for ten thousand years. For ten thousand years they have steadily increasing food production to feed an increased population, and every time they have done this, the population has increased still more."

This is what I choose for a community. http://community.liveJournal.com/DignityClub/
This particular Community started as a club at school and later became a online community. The Club Dignity, is a club that supports gay, lesbian bisexual, and transgender rights. The dignity club is a place where student under these catagories have a place to talk about situations that they face in there everyday life. They talk about sexuality and have meetings to encourage that it is ok to be gay or lebian.
Quote 1
"Hello this is Dignity_Club of Mercy Burlingame. I know that if you are here, you want to help promote Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, and Transgender rights. You may be here because you are LGBT, but you may be here because you are a straight ally, we thank you for that. But you are welcome, and please join and put us on your friends log for any updates."
Quote2
"Hello members of the dignity club It is me Catherine, here to say that Dignity will not be a school club, it will be only an internet community where we can arrange our GSLEN activities. I am not brave enough to head such a group in person. I will still get kids in school to sign up on here."
I find this interesting because this was a club that started at a school and they werent gettting any support by the teachers. So these students took it into there own hands and started a club online.
Canadian Girls http://community.livejournal.com/canadian_girls/
This particular blog is from a 40 year old lady that lives in Canada. She talks about how much she loves her Country because of the freedom it has,the simple way life of living there, and she likes that it is easy to express yourself.
Quote 1
"No, I love my country for one very simple reason: I love waking up every morning, walking out my door, and fully knowing that no matter what I do or where I go, I'm able to express myself."
Quote 2
"I hold that to be ESSENTIAL to who we are and who I am."
This is a very interesting blog because this lady just wanted to express her feelings about her Country to anybody that might want to listen. I found it touching that she had such good feelings about her country and I wished I felt the same way about mine.
Hockey Girlfriends
http://community.livejournal.com/hckygirlfriends/
One of the blogs under this description really jumped out at me. It is a girlfriend of a hockey player that is asking for advice of how to coupe with being away from your boyfriend for so long when he is away playing in a different town.
Quote 1
"It's just been hard, because during the season he always feels bad that i put more time into the relationship than he does, and i tell him all the time that i understand that he's busy and living a hour away from each other doesn't help all that much."
Quote 2
This is a response to her for someone else.
" hockey boys you gotta luv them. and we all know how it goes...trust me. i lived about 2.5 away from mine for a while, and we went from seeing eachother almost everyday to like twice a month. but at the same time... its worth it in the long run. stay stong, and if you need support were here for ya!
I found this interesting because I am a hockey player and I have a girlfriend of three years that lives in Duncan BC Canada, and i could never picture her bloging to random people about this issue.
Detroit Red Wings http://community.livejournal.com/redwingshockey/
This blog informed me that the new Captain of the Detroit Red Wings is going to be Nicolus Lindsdom. It was very imformative giving me knoweledge of my favorite hockey team.
Quote 1
"Lidstrom, 36, joined the team for the 1991-92 season. He is the longest-serving member of the squad and arguably the Wing's best player.
Quote 2
"Lidstrom, who has been an alternate captain the past few years, is a natural successor. Like Yzerman, he is quiet, but his words command tremendous respect in the locker room. Like Yzerman, he leads by example.
This was interesting to me because Detroit is my favorite NHL team. Hearing news on who was going to be the next Captain of the team was important to me becasue i was curious, and waiting to know. I was very happy that i found this blog.
